This weekend, over 120,000 barbecue lovers flocked to Mississauga’s Celebration Square for the 8th annual Amacon Mississauga Rotary Ribfest. The festival started Thursday and continued until Sunday evening, attracting thousands to sample an endless variety of mouth-watering barbecued ribs and chicken. This year’s festival hosted 15 famous ribbers from all over North America, as well as 30 other food vendors offering delicious festival favourites like blooming onions, corn on the cob, funnel cakes, ice cream sandwiches and southern-style lemonade. To accompany the delicious food, the festival featured live musical performances all weekend from Eclectic Revival, Cobra Kings, Chris Smith Band and many more. In addition, children were invited to enjoy a number of games, rides and live acts. Above all, charity is, and always has been the heart and soul of this event. Proceeds from Ribfest are donated entirely to a number of local charities. The money raised is also used to support The Mississauga Food Bank, Trillium Health Centre Foundation, Credit Valley Hospital Foundation, Family Services of Peel and Interim Place.
